JAMB Discloses Number of Candidates Admitted So Far For 2018/2019 Session The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has disclosed that about 24,148 candidates have gained admission into various higher institutions in Nigeria as at August 29, 2018 for the 2018/2019 academic session. This was made known by JAMB Head of Media, Fabian Benjamin during a telephone chat with newsmen on Wednesday. The JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, on the other hand has frowned at agitations for the reduction of JAMB Registration fees. According to him, the fee collected by JAMB is one of the lowest in the world. “Why are they not asking WAEC (to reduce fee)? Why are they not asking NECO? Why are they not asking NABTEB? Why JAMB? He asked rhetorically. JAMB Upgrades Cut-Off Marks for 2018 Admissions into Universities Reports reaching us suggests that JAMB has upgraded the Cut-Off Marks for Admissions into tertiary institutions as follows; Universities - 140, Polytechnics - 120, Colleges - 100, Institutes - 110. Please continue reading to see implications of this below. There's absolutely no need to panic about the upgrade in cut-off marks. As we reported earlier, the schools are absolutely responsible for releasing the final cut-off marks for taking Post-UTME in the institution. This information will be released as the school is releasing information about their post-UTME. This however means that no school will be able to take any candidate, who scores below the minimum JAMB score as categorised above. General Post-UTME Dates for 1st & 2nd Choice Candidates - Must Read This is to inform you that the Vice Chancellors, Rectors of all tertiary institutions have agreed to conduct Post-UTME for 1st Choice Candidates between 2nd July to 16th October, 2018, while Post-UTME for 2nd Choice Candidates will commence between 17th October to 17th December. If we are to interpret these released dates literally, it simply means that all institutions will conduct two sets of Post-UTME Screenings. The first will be for those who selected the institution as 1st choice, and later, they will conduct for those who selected them as 2nd choice. No information was released about 3rd or 4th Choice Selections. We're not certain how these institutions intend to manage these screenings, or whether or not 1st choice candidates have more quota than 2nd choice candidates. We expect schools to be more transparent, and give explicit information about their conduct of Post-UTME Screening for this 2018/20

JAMB Official Cut-Off for 2018 Will be Decided in June

JAMB will decide the official 2018 Cut-Off Marks for Admissions into tertiary institutions for the 2018/2019 academic session in the month of JUNE. This was disclosed by The board’s Head of Media and Information Department, Fabian Benjamin, during an interview held in Lagos today. He also stated that no Institution is allowed to Admit any student until the cut-off mark for admission has been decided, pointing out that any school admitting students before then, is doing so illegally. Mr Benjamin confirmed that the policy meeting will hold in June, and this will be chaired by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu. It is clear that at this point, No Cut-Off Mark has been released by JAMB for 2018 Admissions. No official date in June has been announced for this policy meeting.

This is especially for candidates who were unable to receive the exam slips via their email addresses. Imo State Has The Highest Number of Registered UTME Candidates For The 3rd Time

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that Imo State, for the third consecutive time has emerged the State with the highest number of registered candidate for the 2018 UTME. According to the information made available, Imo State emerged the overall top state in terms of number of registration with a total of 92,890 candidates. The state was closely followed by Oyo (86,695) and Osun with 86,044 applicants. Sokoto, Zamfara and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had the least applicants with 13,456, 10,077 and 6,418 candidates. It was gathered that the 2018 sales of registration form received a shortfall of 55,642 (3.2 per cent) as 1,662,763 candidates registered for the 2018 exam as against 1,718,425 candidates that registered for same exam within a month and two weeks period in 2017. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that the results of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will not be released immediately. This was made known by the Registrar, Prof, Oloyede. According to him, the reason there will be delay in release of results is to review the activities of the candidates and to minimize the number of cancellations. The JAMB boss mentioned thOat last year the board proved a point that there is nothing extra ordinary in releasing results immediately. However, some results were later cancelled when the board found out what happened in some centres through the CCTV Cameras. JAMB Mock Exam 2018: New Date To Be Announced Soon An earlier announcement by JAMB had it that the mock exam will hold 1st week of February. However, till now the board is yet to announce a definite date for it. The purpose of the Mock examination is to give candidates who have little or no Idea about JAMB CBT to get familiar with it. The truth is with or without the mock examination, you can start getting familiar with the JAMB CBT questions. We believe the delay in the conduct of the Mock exam was due to the fact that the earlier deadline for the 2018 UTME Registration was postponed. With the conclusion of the 2018 UTME Registration, we expect JAMB to announce the date for the Mock examination any moment from now. Please note that the Mock examination is not a criterion for participating in the main examination, neither will it be part of your score/result in the main exam.

JAMB (2018) Gives Candidates With Registration PINs 24hrs To Complete Registration The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that candidates who have purchased their PINS but are yet to register have just twenty four (24) hours to do so before the registration portal finally closes for 2018 UTME. While disclosing this in Abuja, the Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, noted that it would not entertain any complaints from candidates who fail to complete their registration exercise. He said the extension applied to candidates who had initiated registration processes and had paid and procured the registration e-pins but could not register at the closed of sales. He mentioned that a total of 1,662,818 candidates purchased the 2018 UTME form while 1,650,547 had successfully registered for the 2018 UTME.

JAMB Extends Registration for 2018 UTME We're pleased to inform you that JAMB has now extended the closing date for purchase of forms, and registration for the 2018 UTME and Direct Entry, till Sunday 11th February, by 12 midnight. This decision was announced by the JAMB Head of Information, after a meeting on Tuesday in Abuja. The Board however warned that there will be no further extension, if any candidate does not successfully register on 11th February. JAMB also added that such culture of late registration by candidates, and extensions every year has to be curtailed, and the board may impose a fine for late registrations in future.

JAMB 2018 Forms & Registration Deadline is Here! This is a reminder to all intending JAMB Candidates that the deadline for the purchase of forms for the 2018 UTME still remains 6th February, 2018. The portal for registration is however, expected to close on or before 10th February. At the time of this publication, no information has been released by JAMB on intensions to extend the above stated dates. If you are still expecting any institution to release 2017/2018 admission list, you are advised to at least purchase the form for the 2018 UTME, while you wait. This is totally the school's fault, not JAMB's. If you eventually gain admission, you can then forfeit writing the 2018 UTME. It's safer that way, than to lose both ways.
