Falz' "This is Nigeria" video generates controversy on social media as Muslims call him out for using girls in hijab Falz's "This is Nigeria" music video, inspired by Childish Gambino's "This is America" video, has generated controversy with Muslims calling him out for using girls in hijab in the video. In the music video, which we think is a masterpiece, uses art to expose the ills in society, young girls in hijab are seen dancing Shaku Shaku behind Falz. Some Muslims took offense at this and said it's inappropriate and a way of disrespecting the hijab and Islam.     On the other hand, there are a lot of people standing up for Falz. Falz' supporters pointed out that the girls in hijab are a representation of the Chibok and Dapchi girls and other young women kidnapped and raped on a daily basis in northern Nigeria.     See some social media reactions below.

2019: ''VP Yemi Osinbajo's position threatened'' - President Buhari President Buhari today jokingly said the position of Vice President Yemu Osinbajo is threatened. The president said this when he received a delegation of the Conference of Nigerian Female Parliamentarians at the state house today May 25th.   The delegation had asked President Buhari if their was a possiblilty for a Female Vice President of the country. Responding to their request, President Buhari said "It is a pity the VP is not here, but I believe the Secretary to the Government of the Federation will brief him that his position is threatened . It is only the vice president who is threatened. And if we win the next election, he may lose his election." he said  President Buhari is seeking reelection next year but it is not yet officially confirmed whether he will run with his deputy.

FG declares Tuesday, May 29th public holiday The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, May 29, as public holiday to celebrate the 2018 Democracy Day.   Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on Friday in Abuja on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued by Dr M. Umar the Permanent Secretary.     Dambazau congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and pledged government’s continued dedication to entrenching democracy in the country. He also urged all Nigerians to trust and support the government in its commitment to building an indivisible, peaceful and greater nation based on the tenets of democracy.   The Minister wished all Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day celebration.
