Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that Imo State, for the third consecutive time has emerged the State with the highest number of registered candidate for the 2018 UTME. According to the information made available, Imo State emerged the overall top state in terms of number of registration with a total of 92,890 candidates. The state was closely followed by Oyo (86,695) and Osun with 86,044 applicants. Sokoto, Zamfara and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had the least applicants with 13,456, 10,077 and 6,418 candidates. It was gathered that the 2018 sales of registration form received a shortfall of 55,642 (3.2 per cent) as 1,662,763 candidates registered for the 2018 exam as against 1,718,425 candidates that registered for same exam within a month and two weeks period in 2017. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that the results of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will not be released immediately. This was made known by the Registrar, Prof, Oloyede. According to him, the reason there will be delay in release of results is to review the activities of the candidates and to minimize the number of cancellations. The JAMB boss mentioned thOat last year the board proved a point that there is nothing extra ordinary in releasing results immediately. However, some results were later cancelled when the board found out what happened in some centres through the CCTV Cameras.
